Building relationships can be difficult as is and even more so when we're talking about business relationships. What are some things that you do to "network properly?" For me I choose to speak with a variety of entrepreneurs at various stages and unless our initial contact was due to something business related I focus on getting to know them as a person and why they chose to do what they do. I found that this "tactic" has built better relationships and also shown me those whom I would want in my circle. those who I would not and those who would be strictly a business relationship.
